By the 1850s there were over 130 "fellowshipped" Universalist Churches in Ohio, enduing Ohio with a rich Christian Universalist heritage. The goal of Historical Christian Universalist Churches of Ohio is to document as many of these as possible. It won't be an easy task. Today there are few of these churches still hosting a congregation. Most of those that are, are now Unitarian Universalist. A fortunate few have found other uses. Some still stand, vacant, but hoping. Most unfortunately are gone. But all is not lost. Remnants are left behind. Dry records hidden in dusty archives and crumbling history recollections. There are pictures and postcards, others sorts of memorabilia too. And if we are quick enough we can still capture the stories of those who attended, or know some who did. Time will tell how many of Ohio's Historic Christian Universalist Churches we will be able to record.
