The Reluctant Bride

My love affair with Mani Quin and her friends began innocently enough. It was 2015, we were passing through Giddings, Texas on our way to Houston when “A Blast from the Past” caught our eye and we just had to stop and check it out. This was no ordinary antique store antique store—how many antique stores have fire engine sitting inside the store? Worthy of a picture for sure, but what sparked my imagination were the mannequins. Each, to my mind, told a story that I wanted to try to catch in an image --- “Shopping with Mani Quin & Friends” born.

From that day to today, I can’t pass a mannequin without seeing a story. Some of those stories can be captured in an image and sometimes those images combine into an even larger story.

And sometimes they even speak to me about what it means to be human in a cruel world.
