Purchasing Fine Art Photography

There are photos and there is Fine Art Photography. Simply stated, Fine Art Photography is art created in accordance with the perceptions and emotions of the artist as photographer. Fine art photography stands in contrast to representational photography, which literally re-presents objective reality rather than the subjective vision of the photographer. Although Fine Art Photography may use post-production tools to achieve the vision, it doesn’t use post-production tools merely to enhance an image. With Fine Art Photography, post-production is about ascetics rather than making an image “look pretty.”

With Fine Art Photography, the devil is in the details. Not only is the image subject to the photographer’s creative vision, it is also subject to the presentation. The printing media, finish, size, and hanging, all effect how the finished piece looks. The selection can either amplify, or detract from, how the image presents itself.

It is for this reason that I do not post available image sizes, print media, and finishes. I want your purchase to fit your lifestyle, your needs, your hanging location. I want your finished product to present itself as a work of fine art. I want to work work with you to make that happen. Fine Art Photography, as with all fine art, is an investment. I want you to be happy with your investment and I will work with you to make that happen.

After you have selected an image we will discuss, budget, print medium (photo paper, canvas, art papers, metal, wood, etc), print finish (glossy, matte, metallic, velvet, etc.), size, and hanging location and requirements. The cost, of course, is determined by the choices made. Please note that not all images are available as Fine Art Photography.

All Fine Art Photography prints archival quality and are numbered by edition and print, and come with a certificate of authenticity. I normally do not sign photos, but if you wish, I will sign the reverse. Gallery prep is also available upon request.

Purchasing General Photography

Many of the photographs in the galleries are available as images printed on basic photo paper with a choice of limited finishes, generally gloss, matte, metallic. Additionally, many can be purchased as digital downloads for a one-time non-commercial use. It is important to keep in mind that many of the photos have been cropped and may not fit a normal print format without also printing a border. The cost of a general photography print, or digital download, is dependent upon size.

Purchasers of digital files will be asked to state that the use is non-commercial and for one-time only.
