The Quakers

Society of Friends

Quakers have a natural affinity with Christian Universalism because of the Quaker belief in the "Inner Light," the idea that there is "that of God in everyone". This leads to two main interpretations of Quaker universalism: one where the universal message of Quakerism is accessible to everyone, and another where all paths to spiritual truth are seen as equally valid. Many Quakers see the Quaker tradition as inherently universal, with roots in Christianity but also open to other beliefs. When speaking of ultimate harmony with God, some Quakers who emphasize the more Christian aspect of their heritage have historically held that everyone will ultimately enter into harmony with God through the "Inner Light." There is some debate about how "harmony with God" is to be understood.
